Golden Grain Mills utilise all natural processes for milling the wheat which allows us to capture the embedded goodness in the wheat such as the germ, bran and endosperm. Golden Grain Flour Mills uses the highest quality grains available and the traditional Stone Milling system. This process allows us to grind wheat at slow speeds with low temperatures, this in turn assists keep the natural vitamins and minerals evenly dispersed within the flour produced. The Whole Wheat Flour at Golden Grain Flour Mills is slightly sifted to ensure a greater consistency, same texture and size to improve the baking qualities of flour.

Whole wheat flour is made from the whole kernel of wheat and is higher in dietary fibre and overall nutrient content than white flours. No chemicals are added during the milling process and no wholesome content is taken out, this results in the consumer getting the most goodness filled flour possible. Whole Wheat flour provides health benefits such as resistance of insulin, excellent source of antioxidants and protection against cardiovascular disease.

Whole Wheat flour is made up of very nutritious wheat grain; this is composed of the bran, germ and the endosperm. The wheat bran is the outer layer of a wheat grain; it is greatly high in fibre and assists to quickly remove the wastes and toxins from the body and aids the digestive process. The germ of the wheat is the centre of the wheat grain; it contains proteins, vitamins, minerals and polyunsaturated fats. The largest part in the wheat grain is the endosperm; this is where the starch in the wheat is stored. The endosperm has many health benefits such as containing a significant amount of protein, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, folic acid, and soluble fibre.

In refined white flour, the germ and bran does not exist, the only part of the wheat grain which is present in refined white flour is the endosperm. This means that refined white flour is only starch and due to the bran being removed, it causes digestion problems.

 
Grewal Premium 100% Whole Wheat Flour

The Premium 100% Whole Wheat Flour is produced at Golden Grain Flour Mills by using the entire nutritious content of the wheat grain including the germ, bran and endosperm.  This flour is unsifted, resulting in more of the fibre being retained. This flour has many health benefits such as protein, thiamin and soluble fibre.

 
Grewal Whole Wheat Bakers Flour

At Golden Grain Flour Mills, our Whole Wheat Bakers Flour is derived from hard wheat and is unbleached. This flour contains a higher level of gluten, which a protein that assists the structure and elasticity which necessary for the formation of yeast dough.

This wholemeal flour is produced by stone milling the whole wheat grain; this flour undergoes no bleaching or refinement. Therefore no nutrients are taken out and the bran, germ and endosperm are present.

 
Grewal Multi-Grain Flour

At Golden Grain Flour Mills, we use selected grains to produce our Multi-Grain Flour. This flour makes a wholesome and nutrient filled loaf which provides the consumer with an excellent texture and an unmistakable flavour.

 
Grewal Chickpea Flour (Besan Flour)

Golden Grain Flour Mills produces Chickpea Flour from dried chickpeas; chickpea flour is rich in protein and contains a high proportion of carbohydrates. Chickpea contains no gluten; therefore it is suitable for individuals on a gluten free diet.

Chickpea flour has many purposes and can be used to create a batter with water or yoghurt. Chickpea flour can also be used as an egg substitute in vegan cookery or as a thickener in stews or gravies.

 
Grewal Laddu Besan

The Grewal Laddu Besan has the same properties as the Besan Flour, such as being used as an egg substitute and thickening agent. However, it has a coarse texture than the Besan Flour. This type of flour is dominantly used in Indian sweets and snacks.

 
Grewal Maize Flour (Makki Atta)

At Golden Grain Flour Mills maize flour is derived from grounding the maize seed. Maize flour is yellow coloured flour with coarse texture, its fine and light texture can be used in corn bread. The natural bran, germ and oils in the grain are kept intact, thus retaining the fibre, protein and vitamins.

The flour is in nature rich in dietary fibre, antioxidants, vitamin B, omega 6 unsaturated fat and vegetable proteins. It is also rich in magnesium.

 
Grewal Pea Flour

The pea flour at Golden Grain Mills is made from dried yellow split peas. Yellow pea flour is derived from yellow split peas which are ground to a fine powder. Yellow pea flour is traditionally used to thicken soups and stews. It is a gluten-free product used in many vegetarian and ethnic homes.

A diet which is comprised of pea flour is known to reduce insulin levels.
